Bindya Lulla always knew she wanted a career in the fashion industry. When it came time to choose a college the choice was clear, the Fashion Institute of Technology, where she earned a degree in Accessories Design.

In 1997, after cutting her teeth at Mary McFadden Couture by launching the lines first accessories collection, Bindya founded Bindya New York a small handbag company manufacturing in New York. Before long her handbags were carried in nationwide stores such as Bloomingdale's and Neiman Marcus. She quickly expanded into pashminas but as a working mother she was spreading herself too thin. The shawls became the main part of the business and now, more than 10 years later, Bindya collection is a thriving brand that in 2008 introduced a diffusion line called Lulla by Bindya that targets a younger, more price conscious consumer.
